Ormond Beach, now existing upon the site of a Timucuan Indian settlement, has a population of over 40,000 residents. In the late 1700's and early 1800s, Ormond Beach was heavily occupied by large sugar mill plantations. In the early 1900's the city's racing history began on the hard packed sand of Ormond Beach. For many years, the community welcomed racers and inventors with names such as Olds, Ford, Chevrolet, Packard, and more.
Due to Ormond Beach's clean community atmosphere, it was recently rated one of the top 100 cities to relocate by the National Strategy Group. In 2006, the Ormond Beach City Commissioner endorsed a Five-Year Strategic Economic Development Plan to ensure Ormond Beach continues to be proactively successful in commercial and industrial business growth as well as in its industry of tourism.
Ormond Beach offers the services of three major medical centers to include the new and impressive Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.
